About

To paraphrase a line from Dr. Strangelove I’m a print journalist who learned to stop worrying and love the world wide web. Former  Austin American-Statesman Sixth Street Beat columnist, dance and feature writer. Vet of many now-defunct wonderful publications including McCall’s magazine (in business for over 100 years until its demise at the turn of the last century) and Civilization (for the Library of Congress) and noofanglemedia.com‘s shopperati.com (though its GreenRightNow.com is prospering). Freelanced stories published in all major Texas newspapers and taught American history, journalism and academic writing at St. Edward’s University.

Since 1999: member of esteemed American Society of Journalists & Authors (asja.org).Taught journalism and developmental writing at Austin Community College. Currently back in grad school upgrading teaching credentials in Rhetoric and Composition and updating new media skills. When I return to the classroom I visualize incorporating student media literacies in my work with them in Developmental Writing and English Composition courses in a community college environment.  I also plan to continue working independently developing various digital ventures including austindogandcat.com.
